From the Congress Chairs
You are invited to send abstracts for our 12th International Congress on Quality in Healthcare, Accreditation and Patient Safety, which is going to be held with the cooperation of Health Academicians Association (SAD) and Integrated Solution for Healthcare Quality LLC (ISHQ).The congress will be held in 25-28 April 2018 in Antalya. The aim of the Congress, which will host large number of institution representatives and experts, is to interpret the various quality practices, accreditation, and the concept and its implications of patient safety within the frame of healthcare services. Health care industry across the world continues to make improvements and it is a must for all health professionals to be active partners in this journey.
Dr. W. Deming denoted that ‘Only Japanese understood that improving your quality means improving the productivity.’ Deming emphasized that functions of quality’s and accreditation’s primary aim are to draw attention of management to quality. The best way of getting their attention is to highlight the link between quality, cost and reimbursement systems. Determining the cost of quality is essential for quality management. To establish and manage and sustain quality programs in an effective way, we need to be assured that there will be a return ,on the investment.
Quality cost information, help managers to evaluate the relative value of quality issues and effectively guide them for essential prioritization, a strategy that is imperative due to limited resources. It is highlighted that health system is a process, which includes thousands of activities, and while implementing them, things can easily go wrong. Actually, in every step in our professional lives, we are intertwined with and we are facing a series of risks. To reduce those risks, it is beneficial to adopt transparency as a key managerial principle. Risk management represents a systematic methodological approach focusing on every stage of health care process, starting from ideas of required services, until the service is being introduced to the intended target beneficiary. All through this process, the risks are continuously specified and followed up with expeditious decisions and activities. Important decisions are made based on evaluation of risks involved, such as prioritization, and selection of strategies and plans to be developed and implemented to mitigate those risks. Healthcare organizations have to be engaged in processes of assessing risks and consequently develop strategies to manage them. Risk management is one of the most effective methods, which is used for clinical quality improvement programs and cost reduction.
There fore, the main theme of the congress is decided to be ‘Continuous Quality Improvement In Clinical Services, Patient and Medication Safety, Risk Management and Accountability 'to discuss the continuous quality improvements in patient care, medication safety, risk management in healthcare facilities and their effects on cost and reimbursement systems.
The Congress will try to create a platform to discuss methods and innovations about improving quality and providing higher standards of patient safety. Besides, Congress participants can also have the chance to discuss experiences and applications to provide safer, more effective and more dynamic health care services. Thus, during the Congress, and based on your point of view, you , who are providing service and take advantage of this service, will get an opportunity to discuss basic approaches the safety of patient and worker and to test new systems and new ideas beyond traditional borders.
The Congress will assist participants in understanding, developing and implementing a cost-effective methodology for sustaining accreditation and quality standards in their organizations and prepare them for upcoming professional challenges. From invited plenary presentations, selected workshops, oral and poster presentations, participants will have opportunities to explore collaborative approaches to quality improvement tools among users, providers and donor organizations, and to scrutinize intonew systems and innovative ideas that reach across traditional boundaries
With the theme “Continuous Quality Improvement In Clinical Services, Patient and Medication Safety, Risk Management and Accountability” this multidisciplinary healthcare quality Conference will be of value to:
- Quality Coordinators, Quality representatives and all healthcare workers who participate in committees related to patient and worker safety;

- Healthcare administrators, researchers and educators;
- Representatives of the organizations which provides diagnosis and treatment services for outpatients and inpatients;

Additionally, this Congress will give the participants an opportunity to discuss experiences and applications, which are needed to provide safe, dynamic, and effective healthcare services. In this frame, during the Congress, you will get the opportunity to comprehend basic approaches in providing patient and worker safety in healthcare services, from the perspectives of service providers and service users.
